OUR STORY
ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS
A COFFEE BEAN...
... more precisely, a coffee bean from VOX Kaffee, a traditional coffee brand from Groneweg and Meintrup in Münster, Germany. In the 1950s, it surprises with an absolute novelty: freeze-dried coffee. The first German instant coffee is born - pour on hot water, stir, ready!
Gently dried, long shelf life, vacuum-packed - an invaluable advantage in times when by no means every household has an electric refrigerator. To this day, instant coffee is the most commonly freeze dried product.
When the VOX brand was sold to Melitta-Werke in the early 1970s, Dieter and Ursula Groneweg, the third generation, were already professionals in the field of freeze drying. Why not use this process to preserve other foods in a particularly gentle way? No sooner said than done.
Freeze dried onions make the start and lay the foundation for the next family business: Freeze-Dry Foods, specialists in top-quality dried ingredients.
